Following the formal launch of Compact2025, the Leadership Council held its first meeting to provide strategic guidance toward realizing the vision of the initiative in its four focal countries.
Leaders from each focal country made clear that there is strong commitment back home to end hunger and undernutrition. They discussed how Compact2025 can support them in accelerating progress toward this end. The leaders described their countries’ ongoing progress, policies, and ambitious goals, as well as their commitment to using evidence to inform policy and provide accountability.
Champions from UN agencies, NGOs, the private sector, and development partners also offered their perspectives. Key issues discussed include building human, institutional, and systems capacity, and collecting better and timelier data to help prioritize investments and track progress.
All leaders agreed that Compact2025 has been initiated at a pivotal moment to support countries, institutions, and other partners to accelerate progress toward ending hunger and undernutrition by 2025. The Compact2025 Leadership Council is committed to making that goal a reality.
