During the Compact2025 Leadership Council meeting on October 6, Ambassador Mathilde Mukantabana of Rwanda reported on the country’s progress to end hunger and undernutrition on behalf of Leadership Council member Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi. Ambassador Mukantabana shared that since the Compact2025 roundtable discussion held in March 2016, Rwanda has established a coordinating secretariat under the Ministry of Local Government with the following responsibilities:
- To provide strategic oversight and ensure efficient and effective coordination for all food and nutrition interventions in Rwanda
- To provide policy advice in all food and nutrition related matters
- To raise awareness of key stakeholders on food and nutrition and advocate for resource mobilization
- To monitor and evaluate of all food and nutrition interventions
Staffing of the secretariat will begin in November 2016 under the leadership of the Ministry of Local Government.
